Not satisfied with their £400million summer 2025 transfer window, Liverpool are interested in the game’s next huge talent, Kenan Yildiz.
With Alexander Isak so far failing at Anfield and Florian Wirtz only just starting to find his feet, the Reds are in need of more reinforcements to try and get back to their best. According to media in Italy, Yildiz is viewed as one of the potential answers.
With 17 goal contributions already this season, the 20-year-old has exploded after a breakthrough campaign to get everyone’s attention. Now, Juventus will have the challenge of holding off suitors for their star.
Liverpool and Real Madrid want Yildiz
Now, La Gazzetta say that Liverpool are among the clubs to have set their sights on buying Yildiz, but he won’t come easily.
Not only have the Old Lady bounced back from a chaotic 2025, there is also plenty of competition. Real Madrid are listed, again among others, to be interested.
The report claims that the ‘superstar’ attacker will remain as loyal as ever to Juventus after he was given the chance to succeed there. Having moved from Bayern Munich’s academy, Turin has become his home.
It is explained that Yildiz’s future may well be tied to what happens with manager Luciano Spalletti, who has managed to turn things around for Juve.
If his deal is extended until 2028 then it is more likely to convince Yildiz to commit himself past the current 2029 end date. A contract going until 2032 or 2033 has not been ruled out if Spalletti remains.
The former Napoli and Italy boss is in no rush to sign, though, and knows that winning is the most important part of the job. Negotiations will follow.
Yildiz, on the other hand, could take his salary up to over £200,000 per week if Juventus do come to the table with a significant offer.
Yildiz will cost huge money but may be worth it
After asserting himself as one of Europe’s best young players last term, Yildiz has built on that reputation and is leading Juventus’ charge in Serie A.
He has eight league goals (plus one in the Champions League) and five assists (three more in Europe). Yildiz also impressed at the Club World Cup.
This has all put him firmly in the bracket of being the next £100million player on the market. That, as Liverpool well know, is a lot of money. But Yildiz now has the reputation of being an expensive gamble that might pay off.
Whether it is the best use of resources for Liverpool, in particular, is definitely questionable. They need changes across the pitch and spending so much on one player would be a serious risk.
Champions League key to Liverpool’s plans
Liverpool know that if they want to spend as big as they might have to in the summer, then securing Champions League qualification will be massive.
They are currently right in the thick of a top four/five battle that threatens to go all the way down to the wire in the Premier League, and Arne Slot has it all to prove.
Whether the current manager is still in charge come next season or not, Liverpool will need to put together a run worthy of overthrowing Chelsea and Manchester United if they are to achieve their summer dreams.
