Gabriel was caught up in a war of words with Harry Maguire following Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Manchester United in north London, with new footage seemingly showing what sparked the heated row
Fresh footage has emerged showing Gabriel snubbing Harry Maguire’s handshake following Manchester United’s dramatic victory over Arsenal on Sunday.
The Red Devils secured a remarkable 3-2 win at the Emirates Stadium, with Matheus Cunha’s 87th-minute strike sealing all three points for the away side whilst dealing a significant blow to Arsenal’s title aspirations.
During the dying moments of the match, tensions flared between Maguire and Gabriel, resulting in the Arsenal centre-back going to ground.
When referee Craig Pawson signalled full-time, the duo’s confrontation continued. However, video footage obtained by Malaysian broadcaster Stadium Astro captures Gabriel declining Maguire’s outstretched hand as the United defender attempted to make peace.
United’s Noussair Mazraoui spotted the altercation unfolding and made his way over to intervene. Mazraoui then shoved Gabriel in the chest, further inflaming the situation. Senne Lammens subsequently intervened, restraining Gabriel and guiding him towards the tunnel.

Maguire was then free to savour the dramatic victory while Gabriel exited stage left. Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Maguire said: “It was absolutely massive.
“We know that the first game [under Michael Carrick], the [Manchester] Derby at Old Trafford, you’re always up for them, and you know that one-off results can happen, so we had to back it up today.
“We spoke about it before the game, coming to the league leaders, who have been excellent this year, I must say, they ask a lot of questions of you, to come here and have the setback late on to get the winner, it was a magnificent performance.”
Maguire’s individual performance earned him the player of the match award, while England legend, Gary Lineker, labelled the defender as ‘one of the most underrated players in football.’
Speaking on The Rest Is Football, Lineker said: “I know people have a pop at him, even people in the game have a pop at him, and I know that he can be turned by a striker with pace, but he makes up for it to a degree with his intelligence.
“He can play as well, he’s good on the ball and he’s never let England down when he’s played for his country.
“I would also say he’s bloody brilliant in both boxes from set-pieces. There is an obvious weakness with the slight lack of pack but he’s got the experience to handle that.”
