Miralem Pjanic has announced his retirement from football at the age of 35. The former Roma and Juventus midfielder shared an emotional video on social media this afternoon.
The 115-time Bosnian international midfielder announced the news in a tearful video posted on his social media profiles, accompanied by an emotional message:
“I spent my life playing my own melody. Every touch, every pass, every shot: a note. Football was my music, the pitch was my piano. My dream has always been to let you hear the beauty of this game.”
In his letter to the game, Pjanic added: “Today, with a heart full of gratitude, I can say that this symphony has been my life. It was an honour to share it with all of you .”
He also thanked those who accompanied him on his professional and personal journey: “A special thanks goes to my family, who have been my first support and my silent strength. To the coaches, my teammates, with whom I have shared dreams, sacrifices, and victories. To the coaching staff, the doctors, and everyone who has worked behind the scenes. To the fans, the soul of this game. Thank you all for being part of this music .”
Throughout his esteemed career, Pjanic represented a number of prestigious clubs; from his debut at Lyon to his move to Serie A with Roma, up to his experience with Juventus. Following this, he went to Barcelona, then enjoyed spells at Besiktas, Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and, finally, CSKA Moscow, who come as his last team before retiring from football.
