Atlético Madrid keen to ramp up Goretzka talks with Bayern before deadline day

The La Liga giants want to bring the former Schalke midfielder in to fill the hole left by Conor Gallagher’s departure.

Atlético Madrid have supposedly accelerated negotiations to try and sign Leon Goretzka before Monday’s deadline.

Strengthening the midfield is the biggest need identified by Diego Simeone, according to reports from Mundo Deportivo.

Following the departure of Conor Gallagher who since joined Tottenham Hotspur, the La Liga side are short on midfield personnel.

Bayern Munich are asking for around €20million for the player, but as it stands Atlético consider this amount excessive.

The club from the Spanish capital know that Goretzka will be a free agent at the end of the season, therefore he could cost less.

So far this campaign, Goretzka has featured in 27 games across all competitions for Vincent Kompany’s side with one goal to his name.
