RB Leipzig have finally confirmed the Assan Ouédraogo’s grim injury diagnosis. The 19-year-old’s setback actually proves worse than initially reported. Another tendon injury will keep Ouédraogo off the pitch for a minimum of two months. This translates to at least 10 games (9 Bundesliga fixtures and one cup tie) for which Ouédraogo will remain ineligible.
Tragically, this also means that Ouédraogo will almost certainly miss the March international break. The freshly capped German international will not receive a chance to parlay his strong Germany debut in November during the final international audition before the coming 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ouédraogo served as one of Germany’s most promising up-and-coming-talents.
Statement on Assan Ouédraogo’s latest injury
“Assan’s [latest] injury was indeed a shock for us,” RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer noted in a statement. “His development this season has been so positive so far, and his debut in the national team was well deserved and impressive. So, of course, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that he makes a quick and, above all, full recovery en route to a return to the pitch.“
