Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on some January additions, with Santos left-back Souza set to undergo a medical tomorrow (Thursday), with Conor Gallagher already completing his medical, according to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas.
GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed earlier this week that Spurs had reached an agreement to sign Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, beating Aston Villa in the race to secure his signature. The England international is set to sign a five-and-a-half-year deal, with Tottenham agreeing a permanent move, while Villa only wanted a loan.
Sources have also confirmed that Tottenham agreed a deal to sign Souza from Santos, who will join the north London club for a fee worth in the region of £15m.
Tottenham Book Another Medical Alongside Gallagher
According to journalist Thomas, Gallagher has passed his medical ahead of a move to Tottenham from Atletico Madrid. Spurs have also booked in another medical, with Souza expected to undergo testing on Thursday ahead of his move to the north London outfit.
Souza is likely to come in and provide competition for Destiny Udogie at left-back, with Frank having a lack of options in this position. There’s no doubt, the Brazilian youngster is a signing with more of a long-term plan in mind, rather than expecting him to make an immediate impact.
Souza has been making an impact at senior level, playing 38 times for Santos, making 24 appearances in the league last term to help the Brazilian outfit avoid relegation.
Tottenham Mean Business This Month
It looks set to be a busy month for Spurs, with two new signings coming through the door this week already. We could see the north London club in the market for further reinforcements, as they are yet to strengthen their forward line, which is looking slightly weaker after some early business at the start of the month.
Brennan Johnson left the club to join Crystal Palace at the beginning of the window, meaning we could see another body added to Frank’s attacking options. Spurs moved fast to hijack a deal for Gallagher, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see deals happen out of nowhere in the coming weeks.
