Another of Marseille’s highly rated youngsters could be on the move this winter, with Darryl Bakola increasingly likely to leave the club according to a report from L’Équipe.
The 18-year-old midfielder is understood to be frustrated by his lack of opportunities this season, despite impressing on his first start against Newcastle in the Champions League in November. Bakola was also unhappy with the club’s decision to block his participation at the U20 World Cup in the autumn, a period during which he saw little first-team action. The Frenchman has seemed to already made his mind up about a departure.
Marseille reportedly offered Bakola a contract extension, but his entourage has yet to respond, prompting the club’s hierarchy to consider a sale rather than risk losing him later. His situation mirrors that of Robinio Vaz who has just agreed to a €25m move to AS Roma in recent hours.
