After the Bundesliga’s return from the winter break at the weekend, a midweek matchday is coming up-

In this Fantasy Bundesliga article, we’ll highlight 10 players to consider adding to your team ahead of Matchday 17.

As a rule of thumb, we’ll try to steer clear of the most obvious picks, instead focusing mainly on players who could offer great value as differentials.

Leopold Querfeld, Union Berlin (Defender, 8.1M, 16%)

Querfeld picked up his fourth consecutive 200+ point return against Mainz last week and now faces an Augsburg side coming off a 4-0 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach. His role as Union’s penalty taker adds extra appeal.

Kaishu Sano, Mainz (Defender, 12.38M, 16%)

Although listed as a defender in the game, Sano operates as a central midfielder. Averaging 191 points per game, largely due to his duels won, he could see an uptick in points from passing this week as Mainz are expected to dominate possession against Heidenheim in a must-win home game.

Maximilian Mittelstädt, Stuttgart (Defender, 19.28M, 9%)

Mittelstädt was the second-highest scoring defender last week, behind only Gladbach’s Joe Scally, after converting a penalty and scoring 302 points in Stuttgart’s 4-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen. With more than 200 points per game on average, he remains one of the defenders with the strongest attacking potential, though his high price is a consideration.

Patrick Wimmer, Wolfsburg (Midfielder, 5.82M, 4%)

Wolfsburg will aim to bounce back from their 8-1 home defeat to Bayern Munich when they face St. Pauli in what should be a very different game. This marks the start of a favorable run of fixtures for Die Wölfe, who will face Heidenheim, Mainz and 1. FC Köln in their next three. Wimmer was in red-hot form before the winter break, racking up three goals and two assists in three games and will look to rediscover that form.

Nadiem Amiri, Mainz (Midfielder, 14.49M, 9%)

Mainz’s midfield talisman opened 2026 strongly with a goal and a 249-point return against Union Berlin. With upcoming fixtures against Heidenheim, 1. FC Köln and Wolfsburg, Amiri is well-positioned to continue delivering high returns.

Aleix Garcia, Bayer Leverkusen (Midfielder, 15.64M, 33%)

Disappointingly, Garcia had one of his worst returns this season (94) in Leverkusen’s 1-4 defeat to Stuttgart. He also picked up a knock, but is expected to start against Hamburger SV after training ahead of the match. Averaging 205 points per game, he remains an attractive midfield option as Bayer 04 face a game they are expected to dominate.

Dzenan Pejcinovic, Wolfsburg (Striker, 3.48M, 2%)

After his hat-trick against Freiburg before the winter break, Pejcinovic scored again in Wolfsburg’s 8-1 loss to Bayern. With a favorable run of fixtures ahead, he’s an excellent budget option up front.

Yan Diomande, RB Leipzig (Striker, 11.07M, 16%)

Having crashed out of the Africa Cup of Nations with Cote Côte d’Ivoire, Diomande is expected to start in Leipzig’s midweek clash with Freiburg. The Ivorian winger was in unstoppable Fantasy form before AFCON, scoring 200+ points in seven consecutive matches.

Serge Gnabry, FC Bayern (Striker, 11.16M, 4%)

After watching Bayern’s 8-1 win over Wolfsburg from the bench, Gnabry is likely to be rotated in for the midweek game against Köln, probably in an attacking midfield role in place of Lennart Karl. At 11.16M and 4% popularity, he’s a cheap route into Bayern’s attack and a strong differential pick.

Deniz Undav, Stuttgart (Striker, 15.8M, 17%)

Undav continues to prove himself as one of the highest-ceiling strikers in the game. Most recently, he caused havoc in Stuttgart’s 4-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen, racking up 342 points with one goal and two assists.
