D-Von Dudley’s Damning Evidence After Jim Ross Claims He Wasn’t Racist Towards Him

The war of words between D-Von Dudley and Jim Ross continues, following accusations from the former claiming that the legendary WWE commentator was racist towards him.

D-Von’s initial claims stemmed from an opening event of a WWE restaurant, and he’s now recently told former WWE star Maven, on his YouTube channel exactly what happened on said night.

“So, again, I’ll go back. It was at the WWE restaurant, the grand opening of it. We were mingling with some of the guests. A lot of them were musical artists, and there were some actors and actresses. WWE really rolled out the red carpet for this event. It was huge. I remember being upstairs, and Bubba was like, ‘Let’s go downstairs and see what’s going on down there.’

“So we went downstairs, and we’re looking around, and it was like another private room… Here comes JR. JR comes down, and we’re like, ‘Hey JR.’ He goes, ‘Boys, how you guys doing?’ Me and Bubba were like, ‘Good, good.’ He was like, ‘Hey, you know what boys? You guys fitting in really good here. I like you boys a lot. D-Von, I’m not too sure, the verdict is still out on him.’ I’m not too sure how to particularly feel about this. I’m saying to myself, ‘what does he mean by that?'”

D-Von confirmed that JR was drunk during the interaction, telling Maven: “At that point, I was just like, ‘Man!’ I had to think about it. If I hit him, we’re gonna lose our jobs; if I say something, I could lose my job, because at that time, I didn’t think that I would be able to fight that. I’m a little fish in a big pond. Remind you, though, when he said it, he was drunk, slurring his words. They say when you’re drunk, the truth comes out.”

Jim Ross Refutes D-Von Dudley’s Racism Claims

However, Jim Ross, who was a part of the WWE commentary team for decades and now works for AEW, responded to the former WWE Tag Team champion’s accusations. He denied the allegations on his podcast, Grilling JR, saying that he doesn’t recall having such a conversation with D-Von.

“Well, recently I heard that D-Von Dudley thought that I was racist.”

The WWE Hall of Famer continued: “That’s so absurd. It doesn’t merit a response. I like D-Von, I like him today. I hired him and Bubba, and I thought we did a good job in booking them. They made money, they were put in situations where they could do the things they do best. Those TLC matches were pieces of art. They’ll last forever. The Dudleys are a major part of that.

“I was shocked to hear that, because I don’t recall ever having a cross word with D-Von Dudley. I always respected him and his work. I loved the Dudley tag team. So it took me totally off guard. I never said that to D-Von Dudley.”

Ross continued and suggested that D-Von made up the story to get attention: “Maybe he’s not as happy with the post-wrestling life as Bubba is. Because Bubba made a tremendous success himself as a broadcaster, and still works. So, I never said that. Some people, I’m sure, are going to still believe it, and that’s their prerogative. But I’m not angry at D-Von. I’m just curious and don’t understand why he went there.”

D-Von Dudley Tells Another Story About Jim Ross’ Racism

This wasn’t the end of the ordeal between the two iconic wrestling figures. D-Von doubled down on his accusations towards Jim Ross. In his interview with Maven, he told another story about an unsavoury interaction he had with JR.

“Then the other incident, like I said, was in Indianapolis, where myself, (Tommy) Dreamer, Bubba, (Paul) Heyman, and Spike (Dudley) were sitting at the table… I think JR just came in the catering. He just got out of the meeting. He comes over and says hello to everybody but me. Paul Heyman pretty much called him out, saying, ‘What? Why don’t you want to say hello to D-Von? What’s wrong with D-Von? What, because he’s black?’ And Jr went, ‘You’re damn right because he’s black.’

“Now listen, people want to say it’s all about the race card, no one’s pulling the race card here. The question was asked: had I ever experienced racism in the WWE? When Bubba asked me, ‘Had you experienced it when we were together?’ And I told him, ‘Not in ECW.’ In ECW, we were a family… So when it came up, I said, ‘Yeah, it was a top official in WWE.’ I’ve said this before on your channel. People thought I was talking about Michael Hayes, Vince, John Laurinaitis, Triple H, and even Pat Patterson. Everybody’s throwing names, and it had nothing to do with any of those individuals,” D-Von reiterated.

It will be interesting to see how this develops and whether JR will respond to further allegations. With other names mentioned, including the likes of Paul Hayman and Bully Ray, it remains to be seen whether these would back the recently retired wrestler’s accusations.

Although he’s already addressed D-Von Dudley’s racist claims, JR has once again had to respond to the allegations after the most recent headlines coming out about the pair’s history.

Speaking on his latest podcast episode, Ross said: “How many times do I have to address it to satisfy everybody? I am not a racist. I have never been a racist. Ask some of the African-American athletes that I’ve been around and worked with in my 50-year career. They’ll say the same thing, and like I said before, when you and I first talked about this, I don’t remember the first cross word I had with D-Von.

“The boisterous one was Bubba (Ray Dudley). But not in a bad way. He just had no problem expressing himself and Bubba had a lot of ideas. He was a throwback. A main event guy that wanted to be involved in booking his angle, and I loved that. If more guys would do that and today, they just wait for someone to tell ‘em what they’re gonna do tonight, and that’s the wrong approach in my opinion.

“But, I’d have no problem reconnecting with D-Von. I’ve never gotten mad at him. I was bewildered about how this could happen. Because, like I said, I don’t remember any negative exchanges with him.“
