“I was ready to make the move”

RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer has discussed his failed move to Bayern.

Konrad Laimer has admitted he was ready to leave RB Leipzig during the summer transfer window.
Bayern München showed interest in the Austrian international, but he ultimately stayed at Leipzig, as his club didn’t want to let him go.

“I was ready to make the move in the summer,” Laimer told Servus TV and continued:

“It was very close, but I didn’t get the green light from Leipzig. On the one hand, it’s nice because I’m an important player. On the other hand, it’s difficult, because you think a lot. But I’ve come to terms with it. Life goes on.

“One of the best clubs in the world don’t come knocking for you every summer. But you can’t change it now anyway. I’d rather concentrate on the here and now. If you think too much, you lose sight of what’s most important,” said Laimer, who is out of contract in 2023.

Laimer, who is currently sidelined with a syndesmotic ligament tear, went on to give an update on his injury.

“It will take at least eight to ten weeks. It will be difficult to be on the pitch again in the first half of the season. That’s why it’s important that I give myself the time to let everything heal and have a good rehabilitation process, so I can be fully ready again in January,” emphasized Laimer.
