Celtic are eyeing a move for Roma striker Evan Ferguson ahead of the January transfer window, according to 67 Hail Hail.
The Hoops are claimed to be monitoring the Republic of Ireland international closely ahead of market reopening in 2026, with Ferguson expected to be on the move again.
Roma are reportedly aiming to cancel the 21-year-old’s season-long loan and allow him to return to Brighton in January after the striker’s difficult start to the season in Italy.
Ferguson has yet to score for the Giallorossi after 10 appearances, registering just one assist in 420 minutes of action across all competitions under manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
The 21-year-old has not started a Serie A game in almost two months, missing the last two fixtures with an ankle sprain.
Celtic Monitoring Evan Ferguson Ahead of January
According to 67 Hail Hail, Roma are expected to make a decision over Ferguson at the turn of the year, with growing expectation that the 21-year-old will see his Stadio Olimpico loan deal cut short.
This would mark a second straight forgettable loan spell for the striker, who spent the second part of last season on loan at West Ham United.
Ferguson only made eight Premier League appearances at the London Stadium, including just one start, and registered no goal contributions in 151 minutes on the field.
The ‘phenomenal’ 21-year-old was linked with a move to Celtic following the 2024/25 campaign, but the Hoops never stepped up their interest.
Celtic could be forced onto the market for a new forward in January, with Daizen Maeda’s future at the club growing increasingly uncertain.
The Japan international is reportedly aiming to depart Parkhead at the turn of the year and has significant interest from Premier League clubs, with Leeds United among those monitoring him.
Celtic have endured a turbulent start to their Premiership title defence as they parted ways with manager Brendan Rodgers and appointed Martin O’Neill on an interim basis.
The Hoops are second in the league table after 11 games, trailing leaders Hearts by seven points, but have a game in hand. O’Neill’s side take on St Mirren away next Saturday following the international break.
