Barcelona striker target Etta Eyong could be up for grabs in January

Barcelona have been put on high alert as their top target Karl Etta Eyong wants to resolve his future at Levante in January (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

The 22-year-old is keen on securing a move to a top club, despite joining Levante only on the deadline day of the summer transfer window.

He is ineligible to play for another club after representing Villarreal and Levante this season, but wants to finalise a transfer in the upcoming winter window.

Barca have shortlisted Etta Eyong as a potential long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski. They explored a move for him this summer.

Real Madrid, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City are monitoring his situation.

However, Barca have the advantage in the transfer race as the Cameroonian striker dreams of playing for them.

He is one of the hottest strikers in La Liga, bagging six goals and three assists in 10 games combined for Villarreal and Levante.

Etta Eyong has been phenomenal for Levante, having contributed to six goals in seven games.

Compared to other high-profile targets such as Julian Alvarez and Serhou Guirassy, Barca can sign Etta Eyong for around €30 million. He is available to the clubs outside Spain for €40m.

Etta Eyong possesses the physicality, technical prowess and predatory instincts to be a big hit at Barca and take up the mantle from Lewandowski.

The Polish striker is out of contract next summer, and Barca have no plans to extend his deal, given his age and recurring fitness struggles.

Hoffenheim’s Fisnik Asllani and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic are other strikers on Barca’s wishlist.
