‘World-Class’ Man Utd Star Set to Leave in 2026 Alongside Malacia

Manchester United have made the decision to part ways with midfielder Casemiro in 2026, journalist Rudy Galetti has revealed.

The Old Trafford side are reportedly planning to offload the Brazil international either in January or on a free transfer after the season, as they look to make adjustments in their midfield and potentially welcome a new signing.

Casemiro is on an expiring contract at Old Trafford, which runs out in June, and is one of the best-paid players at the club, earning a staggering £350,000-a-week.

The ‘world-class’ 33-year-old has been heavily trusted by Ruben Amorim at the start of the season, starting five Premier League games and scoring once in United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea last month.

Galetti, writing on X, reported that United are eyeing a significant reduction in their wage bill with Casemiro’s departure in 2026, with the expectation that this will be his final season at Old Trafford:

Casemiro joined United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 and has made 131 appearances for the Red Devils to date, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists.

His partnership with captain Bruno Fernandes in midfield has been favoured by Amorim at the start of the season, although it has faced heavy criticism from fans and pundits, with England international Kobbie Mainoo often left on the bench.

Casemiro is one of several United first-team stars on expiring contracts, with Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia, and Tom Heaton’s deals also running out in June.

According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano, the Old Trafford side are in talks to extend Maguire’s stay at the club, while Malacia is also expected to leave.

The Dutch full-back has yet to feature for United this season and only recently returned to first-team training after failing to secure a move away this summer.

United are 10th in the Premier League after seven games and next face Liverpool away on Sunday.
