According to English portal ‘Birmingham World’, Aston Villa is now reportedly showing concrete interest in Dayot Upamecano.
The report suggests that the Villains could make a move for the Bayern Munich centre-half as early as January.
There is an offer in place, planning to persuade Upamecano to sign a pre-contract agreement in the winter to acquire his services.
Upamecano’s future at FC Bayern remains uncertain given the French defender’s contract expires in the summer of 2026.
Meanwhile, the record champions are working on an agreement, despite several top European clubs are already preparing to swoop.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and now Aston Villa have all been mentioned as a potential buyers recently.
However, Aston Villa itself is struggling with Financial Fair Play regulations and can’t afford to splash out on expensive transfer fees.
Therefore, the club is specifically exploring free transfer options for the summer of 2026 with Upamecano high up on that list of options.
