Manchester United are reportedly to appoint Brentford chief operating officer Ameesh Manek as the club’s new director of football operations. The Red Devils have moved to shake up their backroom team by bringing Manek, who previously worked at Arsenal, to Old Trafford.
Sami Mokbel and Nizaar Kinsella of BBC Sport reports that Manek will oversee the running of Carrington which includes a focus on football matters for the men’s and women’s teams. He was limited to an administrative role at Brentford but is now taking on a more senior role at United.
Manek arrived at the Gtech in 2022 as a business operations director but was promoted to chief operating officer in July 2024. His appointment is a significant development that suggests INEOS weren’t content with their senior management team, which has undergone changes since becoming co-owners and taking over the sporting operations of the club.
