Things have moved fast for Nick Woltemade, who has gone from playing on loan for Elversberg in the 3. Liga to starring for Newcastle United and the German national team in just 2-3 years.

RB Leipzig coach Ole Werner, who previously worked with Woltemade at Werder Bremen, has been impressed by how the 23-year-old has taken one big step after another.

“He’s an outstanding footballer and a down-to-earth, good guy. His development has been sensational,” Werner told Sport Bild.

“He matured into a senior player at Elversberg, a Bundesliga player at Bremen, and a top player in Stuttgart,” added the 37-year-old.

Werner believes Woltemade still has plenty of room to grow.

“He’s not finished yet. Nick picks things up quickly, works on himself, is reflective, and has talent. He has all the tools to succeed anywhere.”
