An insight into the plans of the board at La Liga giants Barcelona when it comes to the expiring contract terms of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski has on Saturday been forthcoming.
Frontman Lewandowski is as things stand of course primed to bring a close to his Blaugrana stint in the summer of 2026.
This comes with the Pole’s four-year contract, signed upon his arrival from Bayern Munich, due to expire.
Reports have long suggested that it is highly unlikely that Lewandowski will be offered an extension, ahead of turning 38 next August.
And as of this moment, no talks over a renewal have taken place.
That’s according to Catalunya Radio, who have confirmed that Deco and co. are yet to make contact with Lewandowski’s representatives over his contract situation.
It is also noted, though, that discussions regarding as much are due to take place following the turn of the year, pencilled in for early January.
Lewandowski, in the meantime, will continue working to wrestle back starter status in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad.
