AS Cannes’ start to the season in the National 2 has fallen significantly below expectations. Having narrowly missed out on promotion last season, making the jump into the National 1 was the clearly stated objective heading into the season.
Cannes, who last season made the run all the way to the semi-finals of the Coupe de France, are currently 12th in the league, and have just one win from their opening seven matches. The 3-0 defeat against Rumilly Vallieres on Saturday was the final straw for the club’s management, who have opted for a managerial change.
Damine Ott, who joined in October 2024, leaves the club. To replace Ott, the Friedkin group have installed two former France internationals, Grégory Coupet and Morgan Amalfitano. The latter was already at the club in a video analyst capacity. The pair will lead AS Cannes in the interim, until the appointment of a permanent successor, the club have announced.
