Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi is eligible to represent Germany, Italy or Argentina at international level.
The 21-year-old, born in Cagliari, currently plays for Germany’s U21 team, but he would be open to a call from Italy coach Gennaro Gattuso about potentially switching allegiances.
“The rules allow it, and my phone is on,” Tresoldi told Sky.
“If Gattuso wants to have a chat, I would be very happy about it. But at the moment, I play for Germany.
“I made this choice even though it’s just the Under-21s. I’m very comfortable here. In the future… we’ll see.”
Tresoldi has scored nine goals in 18 appearances for Germany’s U21 team.
