Following his summer loan move from Chelsea, Aaron Anselmino made an immediate impact for Borussia Dortmund, starting right away.
However, the Argentine defender quickly picked up a muscle injury that has kept him sidelined ever since.
According to Bild, Anselmino has now suffered a setback in his recovery and will remain out for the foreseeable future.
He is set to miss at least the upcoming Champions League clash with Athletic Club on Wednesday, as well as Saturday’s Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig.
Anselmino’s loan deal does not include a purchase option, meaning any permanent transfer would need to be negotiated freely next year.
Bild suggests that a permanent move is “increasingly doubtful” due to the centre-back’s apparent susceptibility to injuries.
