When Germany announce their squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers on Thursday, Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck will be included.
Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann confirmed on Monday that the centre-back will “definitely be there and deserves it” after returning from a long-term injury.
“He is doing well, he has no problems. He offers excellent build-up play and possesses a strong winning mentality. Now we finally have a left-footed player at the back, which does us good,” Nagelsmann added.
After months on the sidelines, Schlotterbeck has started the last two games for Borussia Dortmund.
Germany will face Luxembourg on October 10 and Northern Ireland on October 13 in their next World Cup qualifying matches.
