Joshua Kimmich replaced Leon Goretzka on the hour mark as Bayern Munich secured a 4-0 win against Werder Bremen on Friday night, setting a Bundesliga record in the process.
According to Opta Franz, Kimmich celebrated his 218th victory in his 300th Bundesliga appearance – a new record, with no player achieving this number of victories in their first 300 matches in Germany’s top flight.
It also places Kimmich in 16th for number of Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich. The 30-year-old – who extended his contract until 2029 in March – is just 10 league matches away from matching Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in Germany’s top flight.
Of the current players, only Manuel Neuer (37) has made more appearances (372) for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and with a seven year difference, Kimmich could well surpass his teammate.
How Bayern Munich beat Werder Bremen
Harry Kane scored a brace against Werder Bremen to take his tally in the Bundesliga this season to 10 goals after five games, with Jonathan Tah and Konrad Laimer also getting on the scoresheet as Arsenal loanee Karl Hein impressed in goal for Bremen to keep the scoreline down.
