Jonas Urbig (22) is set to return for Bayern Munich sooner than expected following an adductor injury, which was expected to rule the German goalkeeper out until late October at the earliest.
“If everything goes well, we’ll have Jonas Urbig available again for [Eintracht] Frankfurt,” said Kompany, at Thursday’s press conference. “That would be very quick, but he’s a fighter and I’m confident he can manage that.”
Urbig was expected to be ruled out for Bayern Munich’s DFB Pokal game against his former club 1. FC Köln on October 29, but instead could feature in the matchday squad for their Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt on October 4 – meaning that Urbig is likely to start against Köln with Manuel Neuer’s suspension.
In Urbig’s absence, Kompany confirmed that Sven Ulreich would act as Bayern Munich’s No. 2 to Manuel Neuer: “Sven will now take on the No. 2 role, that’s clear.”
