Man Utd Agree Deal to Sign South American Midfielder

Manchester United have reached a preliminary agreement to sign Colombia U17 captain Cristian Orozco, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.

The Old Trafford side look set to secure another highly-rated teenager following the arrivals of Chido Obi, Sekou Kone, Ayden Heaven and Diego Leon, with Orozco set to join next year from Colombian side Fortaleza CEIF.

Orozco, who has yet to make his professional debut, will reportedly travel to England when he turns 18 in July and join United’s talented group of youngsters.

The 17-year-old predominantly operates as a defensive midfielder and has shone at youth level for Colombia U17, captaining the side to the final of the U17 South American Championships last spring.

Orozco has won nine caps for Colombia U17 to date and captained the team in all of his international appearances so far.

Orozco will become the next in a line of young talent scooped up by United’s scouts in recent seasons, with Leon joining during the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old full-back was signed from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno in a reported £3.3m move and has been named in United’s matchday squad twice this season.

The Red Devils also lured both Heaven and Obi from Premier League rivals Arsenal last season, with both making their league debuts under Ruben Amorim in 2024/25.

The Portuguese tactician handed top-flight debuts to as many as six starlets aged 20 or under, including United academy graduates Harry Amass and Tyler Fredricson.

Man United’s summer business saw the club spend in excess of £200m on new signings, with forwards Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko joining.

The Old Trafford side also welcomed Belgian shot-stopper Senne Lammens on deadline day, with the 23-year-old still awaiting his Premier League debut.

United have parted ways with Antony and Alejandro Garnacho, who joined Real Betis and Chelsea on permanent deals, while Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana left on loan.

Amorim’s side are sitting 11th in the Premier League following their 2-1 win over Chelsea last weekend and next take on Brentford away on Saturday.
