Week 4 of the NFL season begins tomorrow night, and NFL Fantasy Football managers are already adjusting their lineups ahead of their upcoming matchups.
Some players are forcing managers to press the panic button, while others are performing well beyond their draft status. Based on their form and opponents, GIVEMESPORT is previewing which stars are set for terrific and disappointing performances over the next few days.
Here’s who you should start and sit for your Week 4 Fantasy Football Matchup.
Quarterbacks
Start – Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers (vs Dallas Cowboys)
Jordan Love is coming off a disappointing Week 3 performance against the Cleveland Browns, scoring just 11.1 fantasy points. Facing the
Dallas Cowboys is therefore just what the doctor ordered.
The Cowboys’ secondary has given up the most passing yards in the league by far and is also struggling to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
Look for Love to have his highest scoring performance of the season, which was previously 20.9 against the Washington Commanders.
Sit – Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (vs Cleveland Browns)
The Detroit Lions were awfully impressive in their 38-30 victory over the
Baltimore Ravens. While Jared Goff only put up 12.7 points, he still completed over 70% of his passes for 208 yards and a touchdown.
The four-time Pro Bowler is averaging 19.2 fantasy points per game this young season, which is tenth among quarterbacks. This weekend, Goff will take on a phenomenal Cleveland Browns defense at home.
Myles Garrett and company are giving up just 147 passing yards a game and lead the league in team sack percentage. The Lions are the favorite in this matchup, but look for Goff to have a meager performance by his standards.
Running Backs
Start – Omarion Hampton, Los Angeles Chargers (vs New York Giants)
Omarion Hampton is starting to find his rhythm with the Los Angeles Chargers. The rookie out of North Carolina had 25 touches for 129 yards and a touchdown in the recent 23-20 win over the
Denver Broncos.
The AFC West leaders will now visit the New York Giants, who are giving up 153.3 rushing yards per contest. That metric ranks second-last in the NFL, ahead of only the
Buffalo Bills.
Now that Najee Harris is out, Hampton is an even more instrumental part of this offense. Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh will be keen on establishing the run early at MetLife.
Sit – Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers (vs New England Patriots)
Chuba Hubbard has had an uneven start to the season as a rusher, recording just 3.9 yards per carry so far. Fortunately, the former Oklahoma State standout’s pass-catching has him ranked eleventh among running backs this season.
Nevertheless, the Carolina Panthers‘ opponent this Sunday, the
New England Patriots, have been phenomenal at containing the run, allowing just 60.3 rushing yards per game.
Look for New England to force Bryce Young to throw downfield, rather than allow check-downs to Hubbard.
Wide Receivers
Start – Nico Collins, Houston Texans (vs Tennessee Titans)
The Houston Texans have had a brutal start to the season, but Nico Collins did begin to find his rhythm against the
Jacksonville Jaguars.
The 2024 Pro Bowler caught eight passes for 104 yards and a touchdown, scoring 22.4 fantasy points. The Texans subsequently have a must-win this weekend at home against the lowly Tennessee Titans.
There’s a good chance Collins follows up last Sunday’s performance with an even more prolific stat line in Week 4.
Sit – DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs Minnesota Vikings)
D.K. Metcalfhas put up eleven or more points in his first three games for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but that decent stretch will likely come to an end against the
Minnesota Vikings.
The NFC North contender has a terrific secondary, giving up just 141.3 yards per game through the air in three games. The Steelers need more stability in the passing game to be a true threat in the AFC, but gaining that rhythm in Ireland this Sunday will be a tall task.
Tight Ends
Start – T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings (vs Pittsburgh Steelers)
T.J. Hockenson right now is only 20th among tight ends in scoring, but he just put up 15.9 points against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Minnesota Vikings are still figuring out their passing game under second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy as they head into a much anticipated Week 4 clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Head coach Mike Tomlin‘s team is giving up more points to tight ends than any other franchise. Therefore, Hockenson should continue the positive momentum he picked up last weekend.
Sit – Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders (vs Atlanta Falcons)
Zach Ertz ranks seventh among tight ends in scoring, as he faces an Atlanta Falcons secondary that has only given up three total points at his position.
The Washington Commanders have not confirmed whether starting quarterback Jayden Daniels will be available for this game, making it even more probable that the Falcons keep Ertz in check.
With all that uncertainty, your backup tight end is likely a better option than the twelve-year veteran.
Defenses
Start – Denver Broncos (vs Cincinnati Bengals)
The Denver Broncos have underachieved relative to preseason expectations on both offense and defense. Sean Payton‘s team currently sits at 1-2 and needs this game against the Cincinnati Bengals to keep pace in the AFC West.
For the Bengals, Jake Browning is in at quarterback for the injured Joe Burrow, giving Denver a prime opportunity to regain their mojo. This stacked Broncos’ defense is due for a breakout game in front of its home fans.
Sit – Kansas City Chiefs (vs Baltimore Ravens)
The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the best defenses in the NFL, but the
Baltimore Ravens are scoring on everyone. Lamar Jackson and company are averaging 37.0 points per game and as motivated as ever after a tough home loss to the Detroit Lions.
As long as star running back Derrick Henry cleans up his fumble woes, this unit will likely continue its dominance at Arrowhead Stadium. Banking on Chris Jones and the Chiefs’ defense to overwhelm the Ravens is not worth the risk for fantasy owners.
