Whilst the transfer window is currently closed, FC Nantes are looking to make a signing by exploiting the ‘joker’ rule in France, which allows clubs to sign one player from another French club, outside of the transfer window period.
Nantes have identified a need for a left-back, as per a report from Ouest-France, and are targeting a move for Olympique de Marseille’s Ulisses Garcia (29). The Swiss international has played just 147 minutes of football so far this season and was omitted from Marseille’s UEFA Champions League squad.
Garcia keen to remain at Marseille
However, Ouest-France understands that the move to sign the defender could prove difficult. It is a difficult deal financially for Les Canaris, whilst the player himself would also like to remain with OM. Garcia’s potential departure would also leave Marseille short at left-back, whilst the player’s versatility is also an important asset in Les Phocéens’ eyes.
