Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has on Saturday overtaken the La Liga goals record of a big-name fellow countryman.
The player in question? Thierry Henry.
Mbappé was for his part back in action a short time ago.
After Real Madrid welcomed Espanyol to Spain’s capital for a La Liga clash, the Frenchman, as expected, was afforded a starting berth.
And after proving himself decisive in Los Blancos’ last two fixtures over the last week, Mbappé was on target once again on Saturday.
Picking the ball up from distance, the 26-year-old drove a stunning long-range effort home at the near post.
And as alluded to above, in the process, Mbappé overtook none other than Thierry Henry in the goalscoring column in Spanish football.
During his time on the books of Barcelona, Arsenal icon Henry notched 35 La Liga goals.
Mbappé, though, has now managed one goal more, despite having only been plying his trade with Real Madrid for just over a year.
