Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmöller remained on cloud nine whilst speaking at his Friday pre-match press conference. The sensational choreos supplied by his club supporters in yesterday evening’s Champions League fixture naturally remained on the 44-year-old’s mind the morning after.
Toppmöller simply couldn’t praise the fans enough. One particular banner caught the coach’s attention. The supporter’s labelling of the team as “troublemakers” ended up proving prophetic once a late first-half surge sent the team into the tunnel with a 3-1 lead.
“What a night, what an evening!” Toppmöller gushed on Friday afternoon. “Unbelievable. Even before the game, the atmosphere was so extraordinary that you could already sense that there was a very special energy in the stadium.
“I saw the banner that said: ‘Net viel Gebabbel [‘Not much babble’], Frankfurt makes trouble’,” Toppmöller continued. “We want to be productive troublemakers, cause problems for our opponents, and be unpleasant with our intense and passionate style of play.”
