With less than a year remaining on his contract, Dayot Upamecano has left his future at Bayern Munich uncertain.
The French centre-back’s agent and Bayern are in talks over a new deal, but no agreement has been reached yet, and other top clubs are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation.
“I feel comfortable here and am happy to work with a very good coach and great players,” Upamecano told Bild after Bayern’s 3-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday.
“My agent is talking with the people in charge at Bayern. The talks are ongoing. There’s nothing more to say. We’ll see what happens.”
Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund recently expressed optimism about a potential contract extension for the 26-year-old.
“The transfer window just closed, now we move on to the next topics, and Upa is certainly an important factor,” Freund told Sky.
“He has matured even more during his time at FC Bayern Munich. Therefore, we hope he will stay with Bayern long-term. I am positive about that.”
Upamecano joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2021.
