Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe has admitted that ‘it’s a shame’ that Lamine Yamal will play no part in his side’s upcoming showdown with Barcelona.
Newcastle and Barca are of course primed to lock horns on the continent later today.
In their respective Champions League openers, the two sides will lock horns in a highly-anticipated clash at St. James’ Park.
Visitors Barcelona will, for obvious reasons, head into the fixture as favourites, considered one of the frontrunners to go all the way in Europe’s top tier competition this season.
The efforts of Hansi Flick’s troops towards as much, though, will come sans the contributions of the aforementioned Lamine Yamal.
As much comes with the 18-year-old having been ruled out through injury.
And as alluded to above, one individual left hugely disappointed by this development is Eddie Howe.
Speaking to the media in anticipation of Thursday’s matchup, Newcastle’s headmaster explained:
“It’s a shame that Lamine Yamal is not playing. I feel disappointed because we won’t get the chance to see him at his best, participating in the match.”
