Exequiel Palacios will be absent from the Bayer 04 Leverkusen squad indefinitely, following a muscle tendon injury suffered in the match with Eintracht Frankfurt yesterday evening. Palacios picked up the injury in the fourth minute and had to be substituted in the fifteenth, with Aleix García taking his place at RCM in Kasper Hjulmand’s 3-4-2-1 formation.
The club released a statement this afternoon:
“Bayer 04 Leverkusen will be without midfielder Exequiel Palacios for the foreseeable future. The Argentine World Cup champion sustained a muscle tendon injury in his right adductor during yesterday’s 3-1 Bundesliga victory against Eintracht Frankfurt, which will require surgery early next week. The 26-year-old Palacios is projected to be out of action until the beginning of next year.”
Palacios played two matches for Bayer 04 Leverkusen this season, finishing without a goal or assist. With Leverkusen in the 2024/25 season, his sixth in the German top-flight, he registered a goal and six assists over twenty-four appearances.
