A member of the midfield ranks at Premier League champions Liverpool is a doubt to play his part in next week’s continental showdown with Atlético Madrid.
As much was indirectly confirmed during Reds boss Arne Slot’s latest press conference on Friday.
Drawn on the fitness situation in his squad ahead of a weekend meeting with Burnley, Slot revealed that Curtis Jones has been ruled out of the Turf Moor trip.
As much comes as a result of an injury suffered in his side’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal prior to the international break.
“I don’t know if you knew, but he got injured in the last game, so he won’t be available against Burnley,” Slot explained.
Midfielder Jones is therefore also considered a doubt for Liverpool’s Champions League opener.
The Merseysiders are due to welcome the aforementioned Atlético Madrid to Anfield next Wednesday.
Jones in turn faces a race against time to play his part against Diego Someone’s troops.
