Aarón Anselmino (20) impressed on his Borussia Dortmund debut against Union Berlin just four days after signing on loan from Chelsea. The Argentine defender was thrown straight into Niko Kovac’s starting lineup because of injuries to Nico Schlotterbeck, Niklas Süle and Emre Can, while Filippo Mane was suspended following a red card on Matchday 1.
Because of long-term injuries to Schlotterbeck, Süle and Can, Anselmino is also expected to start in Borussia Dortmund’s forthcoming games. The 20-year-old has already earned praise from Kovac following his debut. “I think he played a world class game,” said BVB’s head coach. “He made a very good impression, very confident, and very strong in the tackle.”
As reported by Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund bosses are already looking into how they could sign Anselmino on a permanent basis. There’s no purchase clause inserted into the player’s loan, and so BVB could take a similar approach to their signing of Carney Chukwuemeka – where the player returned to his parent club before Dortmund negotiated a fee.
