From a Fantasy Bundesliga perspective, three Matchday 3 matchups stand out as especially promising. For each one, we’ll spotlight a premium, mid-priced, and budget player who could make a real impact for your fantasy team.
To give you balanced options, each set of picks will include one premium player, one mid-priced option and one budget choice. Depending on the matchup, all three players might come from the same team – or be split between both sides.
FC Bayern vs. Hamburger SV
Premium: Michael Olise, Bayern, 25.1M (Midfielder, 36%)
Alongside Kane and Diaz, Olise is an obvious pick with 731 points in two games. After a solid first game against Gladbach, Hamburg struggled in the derby against Pauli, where two goals led to their first loss. Against the strongest offence in the league, the scoresheet could bring up bad memories from previous Bundesliga games at the Allianz Arena.
Mid-Price: Serge Gnabry, Bayern, 12.51M (Forward, 9%)
Being in the shadow of the big names up front, Gnabry has played a really impressive season so far with two assists and one goal. He averages 247 points per match and is a “cheap” differential in Bayern’s attack.
Budget: Ransford Königsdörffer, HSV, 6.29M (Forward, 0%)
Muheim and Torunarigha were the best picks from HSV this season, but anyone who had Augsburg or Leipzig defenders against Bayern suffered points-wise. With Bayern showing some defensive vulnerabilities, Königsdörffer seems like the most dangerous striker for Hamburg who could score Hamburg’s long-awaited first Bundesliga goal this season.
Heidenheim vs. Borussia Dortmund
Premium: Serhou Guirassy, Dortmund, 20.37M (Forward, 26%)
Heidenheim will get a lot of problems this season, and right now it looks like Dortmund will steamroll over them with Guirassy, who is BVB’s star player once again. He puts up 611 points after two games played.
Mid-Price: Ramy Bensebaini, Dortmund, 10.58M (Defender, 2%)
It seems very open who plays in midfield for Dortmund, and Brandt and Jobe didn’t put up the numbers fantasy-wise yet, so a strong duel-winner like Bensebaini seems like the best option alongside Anton, who are both very involved in the Black and Yellows’ build-up play.
Budget: Yan Couto, Dortmund, 5.97M (Defender, 3%)
Dortmund’s last game proved how dangerous Couto can be, putting the ball inside the opponents’ box towards Guirassy. He earned an assist in that match, scoring 328 fantasy points.
Bayer Leverkusen vs. Eintracht Frankfurt
Premium: Ritsu Doan, Frankfurt, 15.27M (Midfielder, 20%)
Reaching over 15M, with a 1.67M price gain after two games, Doan is one of the cheapest premium players in the game. Especially the last game showed his class being involved in all three Frankfurt goals, scoring two and assisting one. With 670 points already, he seems like a must-have for the season once again.
Mid-price: Rasmus Kristensen, Frankfurt, 12.88M (Defender, 7%)
Someone like Quansah would have been another option for this category, but considering Leverkusen just appointed a new head coach, who starts at 0 once again, and Frankfurt’s efficient offensive football, a Leverkusen defender seems like a risk this matchday. Kristensen scores an average of 228 points per match with involvements in Frankfurt’s attack and many duels won.
Budget: Can Uzun, 8.15M, Frankfurt (Forward, 7%)
Averaging 277 points this season, the youngster seems to be one of the best budget picks so far. He has already been involved in four goals over two games – tied for the second-highest in the Bundesliga – and if he keeps up performing like this, he won’t be a budget player for long.
