After the German transfer window closed, there were reports that Skelly Alvero and Julián Malatini could still leave Werder Bremen, as transfer windows in other countries remained open for a short period.
However, the duo is now expected to stay put.
“We expect both to stay with us, as most transfer windows are now closing. A move would only have happened if we had found clubs where both could continue their development,” Werder’s head of first team football, Peter Niemeyer, told Bild.
“We still see quality in both and believe in them. With Skelly, you could see against Leverkusen how quickly a player can get game time,” he added.
“Julián started against Frankfurt. They need to make the most of these opportunities. We’re happy they are with us. They have the chance to show themselves in training, fight back, and earn playing time.”
Werder continue their campaign with an away game against Borussia Mönchengladbach this Sunday.
