2017 World’s Strongest Man winner Eddie Hall has experience in combat sports, having previously competed in boxing and MMA, however, the 37-year-old could soon find himself locked in the cage with an elite-level jiu-jitsu fighter in Misfits MMA. This past weekend at Misfits 22 – Ring of Thrones, arguably Conor McGregor’s most famous training partner, Dillon Danis, submitted Warren Spencer in just 15 seconds to improve to 3-0 in his professional MMA career and become the inaugural Misfits MMA light heavyweight champion.
Shortly after Danis made quick work of Spencer, Hall made his way into the ring and challenged the American to an MMA fight. Although Hall has one MMA fight to his name already and was victorious in emphatic fashion, knocking out veteran Mariusz Pudzianowski in just 30 seconds earlier this year, the threat Danis poses to Hall despite the huge size and weight difference is much bigger, as Danis is a world-class jiu-jitsu specialist who has competed against the very best in that field and has enjoyed lots of success.
As mentioned, there is a huge size and weight discrepancy between the two men, with Hall standing at six feet two inches tall and having a history of weighing over 400lbs, compared to Danis, who is six feet flat and weighed in at just 178lbs for his fight this past weekend. Despite the huge size and weight difference, Hall is determined to make the fight happen and has even set out what he is willing to do to make sure it can happen.
Eddie Hall Willing to Lose 64lbs to Fight Dillon Danis
2017 World’s Strongest Man winner, Eddie Hall, is willing to lose an incredible amount of weight so that he can fight Dillon Danis in MMA. Hall, 37, recently spoke to Bloody Elbow following his official challenge to Danis this past weekend at Misfits 22- Ring of Thrones and revealed that he is willing to lose 64lbs and drop to under 300lbs to make the fight happen.
Hall said the following to Bloody Elbow:
“He’s been talking s**t for a long time, doing snide comments on the old social media, so I thought he’d put his money where his mouth is tonight.
He wanted me to get under 400lbs, he must think I’m over 400. Well, I’m under 400. So I said, ‘Look, I’ll get under 300lbs if he shakes hands on it there and then and he did shake hands, so give me 12 weeks, I will lose 64 pounds, and I will come in and rock his f*****g chin.”
The heaviest Hall has ever weighed whilst competing is 434lbs, so the fact that he is willing to lose so much weight so that a fight against Danis in MMA can go ahead speaks volumes as to just how badly he wants to get his hands on the American. As previously mentioned, although there will still be a huge size and weight discrepancy between the two, even with Hall dropping a lot of weight, Danis is an incredibly talented jiu-jitsu fighter, and would more than likely be a betting favourite if the fight were to get made.
