Lyon have failed in their attempt to complete a Deadline Day move for Brentford FC attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho (23), according to Fabrizio Romano. The 23-year-old join the Bees from Liverpool last summer in a €23m move. The Italian reporter understands that Les Gones submitted Brentford a loan with an option to buy for Carvalho, but the Premier League side have turned them down.
Paulo Fonseca’s Lyon are in need of fresh blood and creativity in the final third as they have parted ways with Georges Mikautadze, who will join Villarreal today after bidding his farewell after Lyon’s 1-0 home win against bitter Ligue 1 rivals. Carvalho has logged four goals and three assists in 27 games played with Brentford. Had Brentford agreed on a move to Lyon, the Portugal youth international would have been reunited with former Liverpool teammate Tyler Morton.
