La Liga champions Barcelona have this week closed a deal for a fresh addition to the club’s academy ranks.
The latest player to have put pen to paper on terms with the Blaugrana? Ibrahim Babayev.
Babayev, for his part, is a 17-year-old midfielder, who most recently spent time developing on the books of Swiss outfit Servette.
An Azerbaijani also boasting Swiss nationality, the starlet has long been held in high regard across the continent.
As much culminated in Babayev travelling to Catalunya’s capital earlier this week, to undergo something of a trial period with Barcelona.
And as alluded to above, along the way, the midfielder evidently did enough to convince those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou of his talents.
This comes amid confirmation on the part of Mundo Deportivo that:
‘Ibrahim Babayev this Friday he signed his contract with the Catalan club alongside Joan Soler, director of youth football, and José Ramón Alexanco, head of the club’s youth academy.’
