Wolverhampton Wanderers reject Newcastle United’s £55 million bid for Jorgen Strand Larsen

Wolverhampton Wanderers have rejected a £55 million bid from Newcastle United for Jorgen Strand Larsen, according to The Daily Mail.

After previously turning down a £50m offer from Newcastle, Wolves have taken a clear stance that Strand Larsen is not for sale this summer and are keen to maintain that position.

The challenge of finding a replacement with so little time remaining before the transfer window closes is a key reason why Wolves are desperate to hold on to their star striker.

Strand Larsen joined Wolves initially on loan from Celta Vigo in 2024 but completed a permanent move this summer for around £23 million.

A 14-goal haul in the Premier League last season has greatly enhanced his reputation, and Newcastle are keen to bring him to Tyneside.

Newcastle are growing desperate in their search for attacking reinforcements following the departure of Callum Wilson.

The Magpies have been actively pursuing forwards to fill the gap left by Wilson, as well as the uncertain future of Alexander Isak, who is keen to secure a move away from St James’ Park.

Having now had two bids for Strand Larsen rejected, it is unclear whether Newcastle will continue their pursuit.

Anthony Gordon has led the line in each of the opening two league games, but he will now miss his side’s next three matches following his dismissal against Liverpool.

Strand Larsen opened his account for the season on Tuesday with two goals as Wolves came from behind to knock West Ham United out of the League Cup.
