The Westphalian giants have sold the USA star to their Bundesliga rivals.
Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Giovanni Reyna joins league rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach with immediate effect.
He signs a contract with the Rhineland club until 2028 with BVB set to pocket €7million for his services, although reports on the fee differ.
The 22-year-old played 106 Bundesliga matches (15 goals) and 27 Champions League matches for Borussia Dortmund since 2019.
While turning into a seasoned USA international, Reyna also won the DFB-Pokal with Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
“We have a long history with Gio. He experienced a very rapid rise at BVB at the beginning of his career, culminating in the 2021 cup victory.
Unfortunately, his development in recent seasons has not progressed as we all hoped. This is one of the reasons why it is time for him to begin a new chapter in his sporting career.
We wish Gio much success and hope that he stays healthy and regains his former strength through playing time in Mönchengladbach,” said sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
