Frank Asks Tottenham to Sign ‘Extraordinary’ Forward Amid Eze Hijack

Thomas Frank would like Tottenham to try and sign Brentford forward Yoane Wissa amid Arsenal’s hijack of their pursuit of Eberechi Eze, Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie has revealed.

The Danish tactician is reportedly keen on reuniting with the 28-year-old forward in North London, but a deal is only possible if Spurs part ways with one of their own strikers before the transfer deadline.

Wissa is believed to have already agreed a move to Newcastle, who are long-term admirers and recently saw their £40m bid rejected by Brentford.

The ‘extraordinary’ Congolese international has emerged as a surprise target for Spurs following their Eze blow – the England international agreed to join North London rivals Arsenal earlier this week in a £68m move.

Tottenham are also keen on Manchester City ace Savinho as an alternative, having held fresh talks regarding the Brazilian on Thursday.

According to Downie, Tottenham were looking to include Richarlison in a potential swap deal for Eze, which would have freed up a squad space for Wissa’s arrival:

Wissa enjoyed a career-best season under Frank at Brentford in 2024/25, scoring 19 goals and providing five assists in 35 Premier League appearances.

The 28-year-old was absent for Brentford’s 3-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the weekend, with head coach Keith Andrews confirming his absence was linked to speculation around his future.

Wissa could soon join the Bees’ ongoing summer exodus, as the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, captain Christian Norgaard and Mark Flekken have all departed.

As GIVEMESPORT has previously reported, Brentford would likely want to sign a replacement before they can let Wissa go, with new signing Dango Ouattara viewed more as Mbeumo’s successor.

Tottenham are anticipating a busy end to summer business, as they remain on the lookout for reinforcements in attack following Son Heung-min’s departure and James Maddison’s injury.

The England international has joined the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin and Destiny Udogie on the sidelines after suffering an ACL setback in pre-season, which could keep him out for the entire 2025/26 campaign.
