OGC Nice manager Franck Haise has revealed that Jonathan Clauss (32) wants to leave the club before the end of the transfer window. The France international is the subject of interest from Bayer Leverkusen.
Clauss was absent from Thursday morning’s training session, attended by Get French Football News. In a post-conference attended by GFFN, Haise explained the absence. “He wants to leave,” confirmed the Nice manager.
He continued, “For him, there is a great offer from a big club. It has been a few weeks since there has been interest; it explains recent performances. We want to keep him. If there is to be an exit, then all three parties need to be respected. We aren’t there yet. We want to keep him; he knows that. Keeping a player who doesn’t want to stay is always strange.”
Nice are not keen on selling Clauss, leading Haise to admit: “He may be here in September.”
