Commenting on reports linking Mohamed Amoura with Benfica, Wolfsburg chief Peter Christiansen says the striker will only leave if the price is right.

Mohamed Amoura’s future at VfL Wolfsburg is up in the air, with reports suggesting SL Benfica are keen to sign him.

However, Wolfsburg’s managing director for sport, Peter Christiansen, has emphasized in an interview with WAZ/Aller Zeitung that the striker will only leave if the club’s asking price is met.

“It’s transfer season; anything can happen. But that’s not just the case with ‘Mo,’” Christiansen said.

“He will only leave if the price is right. And we will only sell him if we believe we still have the right weapons in the team to hurt our opponents without him.”

Wolfsburg are reportedly demanding around €40 million for Amoura.

The 25-year-old forward was in training on Wednesday, but cut the session short. According to WAZ/Aller Zeitung, this was a precaution following the thigh issue he has been dealing with this month.

When asked if Amoura could still feature in Wolfsburg’s Bundesliga opener against Heidenheim on Saturday despite the transfer speculation and recent thigh problems, Christiansen replied:

“Yes, why not?”
