AC Milan reignite talks for Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface

AC Milan have revived their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface ahead of a potential move (h/t journalist Sacha Tavolieri).

Having received the green light from the Nigerian striker, the Rossoneri are ramping up the negotiations to find an agreement with the Bundesliga club.

Noah Okafor’s imminent transfer to Leeds United further depletes the centre-forward options and leaves Milan with Santiago Gimenez as the only reliable No.9

The Rossoneri’s search for a new striker has seen them linked with a handful of names, but no breakthrough has been made so far.

Boniface’s name has been gaining momentum in recent days and appears to have moved to the top of the wishlist.

The 24-year-old has made a great impact at Leverkusen since his move from Union SG in 2023.

He netted 21 goals and 10 assists in his debut season to help Die Werkself clinch the Bundesliga title from the clutches of Bayern Munich.

Boniface struggled with injuries last season, yet he bagged eight goals in 18 league games.

Doubts have emerged over his place since new manager Erik ten Hag reportedly prefers Patrik Schick and Christian Kofane above the Nigerian in the pecking order.

His €50 million valuation could be a sticking point, but Milan will look to negotiate it given the player’s desire to join them.

They are due to receive €20m from Okafor’s sale, which will aid them in landing a new centre-forward.

Milan are also working on a deal to sign Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, but face tough competition from fellow Italian rivals Napoli.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri has strengthened the squad with the additions of Samuele Ricci, Luka Modric, Ardon Jashari, Pervis Estupinan, Koni De Winter and Zachary Athekamy.

The Rossoneri will kick off their new Serie A campaign against Cremonese this weekend.
