Leeds v Everton Predicted Starting Lineups for Premier League Match Amid Calvert-Lewin Update

Leeds and Everton will go head-to-head in their opening Premier League game of the season at Elland Road on Monday night.

Daniel Farke’s side have had a busy summer transfer window following their promotion from the Championship, bringing in all of Anton Stach, Jaka Bijol, Lucas Perri, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Sean Longstaff, Sebastian Bornauw, Lucas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. David Moyes’s side on the other hand haven’t been as busy despite losing a number of stars, with Thierno Barry, Mark Travers, Adam Aznou, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish all arriving.

Both managers will have some big decisions to make for their team, and this is how GIVEMESPORT expect the sides to line up.

The Peacocks will be hopeful of getting off to a good start at home in their return to the top flight, but they’ll have to do it without new signings Bornauw and Bijol, who are injured and suspended respectively.

Right-back Jayden Bogle is also a doubt after picking up an injury in pre-season, while new striker signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin is available to face off against his former club, as is Jack Harrison, who has returned after two years on loan on Merseyside.

Farke Drops Team News Update

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Farke shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.

“I’ll leave others to decide [about Bijol’s suspension sustained from another country]. Of course not ideal. But it’s about the club.

“There will be a late decision made on Jayden [Bogle]. He has been out for two and a half weeks now, but he was part-integrated into team training on Wednesday. He will join us for a full training session this afternoon, and then it depends on how his body will react. There is still a chance for him to get minutes on Monday.”

Leeds Predicted XI

Joel Piroe

  • Leeds Predicted XI: Perri; Byram, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Ampadu, Stach, Tanaka; James, Piroe, Gnonto.
  • Leeds Predicted Substitutes: Darlow (GK), Schmidt (DEF), Chambers (MID), Gruev (MID), Longstaff (MID), Harrison (FWD), Aaronson (FWD), Calvert-Lewin (FWD), Ramazani (FWD).

With Farke bringing in new players to the squad, he is likely to use the majority of them from the start which means debuts for Perri, Gudmundsson and Stach.

However, Calvert-Lewin is likely to be on the bench after not having a pre-season while £135,000-a-week duo Brendan Aaronson and Jack Harrison will have to battle to earn starting spot as the season goes on.

Everton Team News

Jarrad Branthwaite in action for Everton

The Toffees have had a decent summer but manager Moyes has been vocal about the fact he feels he needs more, and that will only be exacerbated by news that star defender Jarrad Branthwaite has suffered another hamstring injury.

He will miss the game, but Vitalii Mykolenko, Nathan Patterson and Harrison Armstrong could be available after recent knocks.

Moyes Drops Team News Update

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Moyes shared an update on his squad ahead of the game.

“Jarrad [Branthwaite] picked up an injury in training so unfortunately we are going to miss him. These things happen. We may have [Mykolenko, Patterson and Armstrong available].

“You all need to turn up to find out [if Grealish will start]! I think Jack can play in several positions – he can play as a midfield player as well. He doesn’t give the ball away very often. My aim is to get Jack in positions where he can be creative for us, score and assist goals.”

Everton Predicted XI

  • Everton Predicted XI: Pickford; O’Brien, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Gueye, Dewsbury-Hall; McNeil, Grealish, Ndiaye; Barry
  • Everton Predicted XI: Travers (GK), Coleman (DEF), Patterson (DEF), Aznou (DEF), Iroegbunam (MID), Garner (MID), Alcaraz (MID), Beto (FWD), Chermiti (FWD).

Moyes is likely to go with several of the new boys in his team for this game and against promoted opposition could go more attacking, which could see Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish, Ndiaye, McNeil and Barry all start.

That means Beto, Chermiti and Garner, who earn a combined £110,000-a-week, will probably find themselves on the bench.
