PSG head coach Luis Enrique was pleased with Illia Zabarnyi’s (22) debut with Les Parisiens. The Ukrainian defender has been given the nod for the first time by the Spaniard for the Champions League winners’ Ligue 1 opening day win against Nantes. PSG got over the line courtesy of Vitinha’s deflected effort. Luis Enrique fielded a B team, considering PSG have had close to no pre-season due to their commitments in the Club World Cup and the UEFA’s Super Cup.
Zabarnyi played the full 90 minutes against Luis Castro’s Nantes as the right-sided centre-back, alongside Lucas Beraldo. The former Bournemouth centre-back put in an assured display, keeping Nantes at bay and earning a 6 in GFFN‘s ratings. Luis Enrique was also pleased with Zabarnyi’s performance. “His technical and physical condition is perfect for the style of play I like. He’s comfortable with the ball. And without it, he usually wins it back. He’s had a very good game.“
