Anthony Edwards Named His Pick For Greatest NBA Player Ever

Following his incredible 2023/24 season, when he became one of the best players in the NBA, Anthony Edwards began earning comparisons with one of the greatest basketball players of all time in Michael Jordan. Fans and pundits alike spotted similarities between the two. Whether it was the fact they played the same role as shooting guards, or their scoring prowess and fierce competitiveness, many compared Edwards to the Chicago Bulls icon.

That’s an incredible compliment for Edwards. Jordan is regarded by many to be the greatest player of all time, so being compared to him is quite an honour. The Minnesota Timberwolves star doesn’t agree with the majority, though, and actually thinks there has been someone better than Jordan in the NBA over the years. That’s right, Edwards once named the player he thought was the greatest in NBA history and he didn’t choose MJ.

While the majority of fans think Jordan is the greatest player of all time, there are some who actually think that honour belongs to LeBron James and Edwards is one of them. Drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, the King has dominated the association for over two decades and despite being 40 years old, he’s still operating at an elite level. His longevity is unlike anything that’s ever been seen in basketball and his status as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer has seen some crown him the greatest ever.

Edwards is one of those who think he is better than Jordan and shortly after his Timberwolves eliminated James and the Los Angeles Lakers from the 2025 NBA Playoffs, he revealed as such. Speaking to the press after the series, Edwards revealed the result meant a lot to him because he thought LeBron was the greatest of all-time. As quoted by Basketball News, he said:

“It means a lot. We beat the best player in the world, the best player ever.”

While the majority think Jordan is the greatest player of all time, the number of spectators who are starting to believe LeBron has taken that crown from him is growing and with the Lakers star about to enter his record-breaking 23rd NBA season, he might still win some more fans over before he calls it a day.
