Piers Morgan has issued a groveling correction to a previous claim of his that Jake Paul is “killing boxing with this boring, staged, bull-s***.”
Paul has acted as a lightning-rod in boxing as he’s earned an estimated nine figures in the sport, despite no amateur background, and an appetite that has mostly seen him feast on inexperienced athletes from other sports, past-prime MMA champions, and older boxers like Mike Tyson and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Regardless, he’s turned into a face of the sport and commands mainstream attention.
Morgan’s public correction also comes amid a time in which Paul is rumored to have hired hot-shot lawyer Alex Spiro, who has represented high-net-worth figures like Elon Musk. Paul’s firm Most Valuable Promotions, which he co-founded with Nakisa Bidarian, even put a statement out last year to GIVE ME SPORT, saying that “baseless claims” of fixing “undermine the integrity” of events like Paul vs Mike Tyson. The statement reiterated that “rigging a professional boxing match is a federal crime” in the US.
Morgan has now, weeks after his “staged” comment — a claim for which he provided no evidence — attempted to set the record straight.
Piers Morgan’s Groveling Correction
On X, Morgan said: “I posted a few weeks ago that Jake Paul’s boxing career has been ‘boring staged bull-s***.’ What I meant is that his fights have been predominantly against older, past-their-prime opponents, which may be lucrative for both sides, and may have entertainment value, but don’t reveal how he stacks up against currently ranked boxers and therefore are not a good look for the sport.”
“I did not intend to suggest that the outcome was predetermined and certainly didn’t mean to suggest anything illegal.”
Morgan then moved to praise Paul for entering apparent negotiations with Anthony Joshua over a crossover super-fight, supposedly able to take place early 2026.
Morgan said: “If reports are correct that Jake is now in negotiations to fight Anthony Joshua, that would obviously be a seriously credible bout against one of the best heavyweights in the world.”

Fans didn’t let Morgan get away with just making a follow-up statement to his controversial comment about Paul, and many said the same thing.
“Bend the knee, Piers,” said Dan Canobbio, a renowned digital reporter and presenter. Ben Davis, another presenter in MMA, also said similar. This is internet speak, based from the Game of Thrones series, in which someone who bends the knee is acting purposefully inferior to a royal — in this case, Jake. Many fans echoed these comments, with one saying: “Don’t back-peddle now.”
Joshua has also been linked with French fighter Tony Yoka, and so there is no guarantee he does, indeed, take on Paul next.
Paul, meanwhile, has called-out everyone from Joshua, to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. There has even been suggestions that he could soon challenge for a legitimate world title in the cruiserweight division.
