Five potential destinations for Alexander Isak after expressing desire to leave Newcastle

Alexander Isak has expressed his desire to leave Newcastle United this summer.

The Magpies maintain their stance that the highly rated striker is not for sale, but with the player actively pushing for an exit, a summer move has now become a possibility.

Below we will discuss some of the potential destinations for the Sweden international

Liverpool

Liverpool expressed their interest to do a deal in the region of £120 million for Isak. But with Newcastle adamant the player was not for sale, the Reds did not submit a formal bid.

Liverpool have since signed Hugo Ekitike for a fee worth up to £79m. A big outlay on another striker is unlikely, but a move for Isak could open up if they manage to sell Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s side were linked with an interest in Isak, but they shifted their focus to Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres after being told the player is not for sale.

Now Arsenal are on the verge of completing a move for Gyokeres for a fee worth around £63.8m. This means the Gunners will not be able to afford signing Isak, who is reportedly valued at £150m by Newcastle.

Al Hilal

The financial costs for a deal is not expected to be an issue for Al Hilal, who are one of the four clubs owned by Saudi Arabia’s Private Investment Fund (PIF). But would Isak, one of the best centre-forwards on the planet, be interested to play in the Saudi Pro League?

The Sweden international is still in the prime of his career and could land a move to any elite European club. Moving to Saudi would be viewed as a step down for the striker in a footballing sense.

Manchester United

Manager Ruben Amorim is in the market for a new centre-forward this summer. They have been linked with Ollie Watkins and Nicolas Jackson, but Isak has not featured on their shortlist.

Will Manchester United change their stance and pursue a deal for the 25-year-old after the latest development? Given they have spent more than £130m on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, a move for Isak looks highly unlikely at the moment.

Chelsea

Chelsea have already added two new strikers to their squad this summer in Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. However, Jackson looks to be on his way out of the club amid huge interest from Man Utd.

The Blues have been credited with an interest in Isak, but the cost for a deal is surely a big issue for them. Aside from the huge asking fee, they would have to make the Swedish footballer one of their highest earners.
