According to L’Équipe, Saudi Pro League newcomers Neom have opened discussions with OGC Nice over the potential signing of striker Evann Guessand (24). The Ivorian international is the latest target in the Saudi club’s ongoing pursuit of French-speaking players which has already seen Alexandre Lacazette and Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka already join the club.
Guessand looks likely to leave OGC Nice this summer, as one of the club’s most bankable assets following a season where he scored 13 goals and registered 10 assists in 42 matches in Ligue 1 this season.
Wolverhampton Wanderers were the first club to show interest this summer, but the Nice academy product wasn’t interested in a move to Molineux. Fenerbahçe then came calling before L’Équipe reported earlier this month that Brighton and Hove Albion and AS Roma were interested in the player.
The striker has two years remaining on his deal at the Allianz Riviera, and while no fee has yet been reported, Neom are expected to put forward a compelling financial offer as part of their aggressive recruitment drive.
